Backus Hospital is proud to offer a Nurse Residency program to help newly licensed nurses successfully transition into clinical practice by providing support, resources and mentorship.. We have partnered with the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program™ to provide resources to help new nurses gain confidence and increase competence during this 12-month program.. Who is enrolled in a nurse residency program?. New graduates may start employment under Graduate Nurse license status (per the State of CT DPH guidelines) with pending license and must successfully complete first NCLEX testing and hold active license within 90 days from graduation date.. By completing the Nurse Residency Program, newly-licensed nurses are able to competently and safely manage a full patient assignment with confidence, and will be well-positioned to become future leaders in the nursing profession.

Participate, as possible, in faculty development activities at the college and within professional organizations.. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director, the Department Chairperson, the Vice President of Academic Affairs, or as specified in the local Master Agreement.. Teaching experience in an associate degree nursing education program preferred.

Experience with Canvas as a learning management system. Compensation for graduate nursing adjunct is $900 per didactic credit and $500 per student for teaching clinical..
