This includes ordering, performing, supervising, and interpreting laboratory and imaging studies; prescribing medication and durable medical equipment; and making appropriate referrals for patients and families. NNP care includes health promotion, disease prevention, health education, and counseling as well as the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases. NNPs are prepared to practice across the continuum, providing primary, acute, chronic, and critical care to neonates and infants to age 1 year. In addition, NNPs select and perform clinically indicated advanced diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures.
