The RN functions as a liaison between the patients and staff members of the transplant team (physicians, social worker, financial counselor, psychiatrists, etc. The RN is responsible for screening and educating potential recipients, direction of the evaluation process, facilitation of committee review, direction of additional testing and update testing, and management of the waiting list. The RN is responsible for collection and evaluation of patient laboratory testing, diagnostic procedures, consults, and regulatory requirements. The RN provides post-transplant cross coverage for essential functions.
